Gamer Profile = Speed Loss??
Hi, I have just been put on the gamer profile and my router sync speed has dropped from
Connection Speed 14920 kbps 796 kbps
Line Attenuation 19.0 dB 10.3 dB
Noise Margin 6.8 dB 16.1 dB
to
Connection Speed 10235 kbps 796 kbps
Line Attenuation 19.0 dB 10.3 dB
Noise Margin 7.3 dB 15.8 dB
Is this normal, the guy I spoke to said that my line would spend the next 24 hours optimising itself.
It didn't sound right when he was saying it, but I'm not sure.
Does anyone know if my line will get better over night, or should I call back and ask for them to fix it?
Thanks

Re: Gamer Profile = Speed Loss??
They've put you on 10240/800 gaming profile... no idea why.
Even so, the first stats don't look right - you should be performing quite a bit better than that. As per your previous posts, you were getting the following stats at one point:
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 16794 kbps 1098 kbps
Line Attenuation 19.5 dB 10.4dB
Noise Margin 6.7 dB 8.3 dB

Re: Gamer Profile = Speed Loss??
Thanks for the response.
For some reason my speed has been dropping over the last few months. Nothing has changed in my setup. And I've only ever been plugged in to the test socket.
Every time I've contacted Sky they say that I'm at the best speed my line can handle.
Anyone got any ideas why my speed will have dropped so much, and anyone know what my line should be getting? And most importantly how I can actually get the best speed possible?
Thanks

Re: Gamer Profile = Speed Loss??
Any issues with your landline developed, like any audible noise?
Try swapping over for another filter and seeing whether anything improves.

Re: Gamer Profile = Speed Loss??
Finally after a lot of phone calls my speed is back up to where I was originally.
After speaking to god knows how many people, they reset my connection and started me on DLM again, the speeds have been up and down daily but it seems to have finally set on these
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 17033 kbps 1094 kbps
Line Attenuation 19.5 dB 10.4 dB
Noise Margin 2.8 dB 8.5 dB
I know the normal target SNR is 7db, why would Sky have set mine so low?
What are the disadvantages of having it this low?
Thanks for everyone's input.
