Hi scubbie,
I used to fit for Anglian so no chance !!!!
Anyway I have changed DNS settings and everything now works!! No idea how/what/why or who but it has solved the issue.

Re: Slow web pages, slow Xbox, Slow everything
So you could have told her that you know more about windows that she does about Sky
At least you have managed to resolve it though, well done.

Re: Slow web pages, slow Xbox, Slow everything
Typical, I work and go out for lunch and it all kicks off. We've not had any problems so far, apart from the rubbish upload speed. Waiting patiently for fibre at the end of June...

Re: Slow web pages, slow Xbox, Slow everything
Scubbie
Do you know if its safe/right to just keep the new DNS settings I put in yesterday to cure the issues or should I revert back to how it was and set it to automatic?
Does it do any harm and is it legal (or not against their T&C's)
Many thanks
Chris

Re: Slow web pages, slow Xbox, Slow everything
I live in the '01704' area and have just spent 30 mins on the phone to Sky. They have told me that my brand new quad-core PC has developed a faulty and that my Sky Box must be faulty too... They are adamant that it's not a problem at there end.
I did tell Sky that I have researched this in Forums and all I got was a snigger... I'm Fuming!!!!
My Problems
1.Some webpages are so slow to load (Amazon & Argos) Some web pages do not load pictures such as Facebook
2. Sky Anytime + Menu shows but does not display pictures in the description and fails to download

Re: Slow web pages, slow Xbox, Slow everything
Snapples
Sounds similar to quite a few of us on here, I was told to 'phone Windows' as Sky said that was my problem!! Anyway all faults were rectified by changing the DNS settings.
I changed mine from 'auto' to (top) 208.67.222.222 (bottom) 208.66.220.220
As previously stated, I have no idea how,why or who but it worked
Good luck

Re: Slow web pages, slow Xbox, Slow everything
Hi Chris, thanks for your reply ...
After calming down I rang Sky again and spoke to a young lady who was polite and helpful. Her response was as follows.... "We have been aware of this issue since Saturday and the problem is becoming more widespread. As yet Sky are unsure what he problem is or how long it will take to resolve but are working on the problem"
At least Sky are aware of the problem, however I am still angry that they tried to fob me off at first by telling me that my PC and Sky Boxes are all faulty!!
I have changed my DNS settings to (top) 208.67.222.222 (bottom) 208.66.220.220 on my PC and everything seems to be working at the moment, however this doesn't resolve my Sky Anytime + issues but I don't fancy changing my Sky box DNS settings

Re: Slow web pages, slow Xbox, Slow everything
I have never heard of Sky penalising someone ever for using public DNS servers. I do not believe that it is mentioned in their T&Cs either.
That is a lot better. Hopefully it also means that Sky are now in the process of resolving the issues.

Re: Slow web pages, slow Xbox, Slow everything
Hi Scubbie and thanks for your reply ....
Looks like Sky have now acknowledge that it is a problem. I logged on to my account and clicked on Help & Support Sky Help and Support and under the Service Status on the left hand side it indicates that their are broadband issues

Re: Slow web pages, slow Xbox, Slow everything
I get that too. The only existing one there has been present since April. By following the links, does putting in your post code confirm that your exchange is affected?
My exchange isn't affected.
