Re: Slow web pages, slow Xbox, Slow everything
Well, despite what some people are saying, the problem does not appear to have been resolved. I'm still getting very slow loading times on some sites and no loading at all on others. Facebook is still playing up although admittedly, that may be nothing to do with Sky.
Screemer, I don't understand what you did to make your stuff work. How did you manage it?

Re: Slow web pages, slow Xbox, Slow everything
I've changed from the sky DNS servers to the public ones for now, so it's obviously there fault. I wish they'd just be honest with us, we all know stuff goes wrong from time to time. What operating system you on Annie?

Re: Slow web pages, slow Xbox, Slow everything
I'm on Windows Vista Home premium. I've just tried changing to 8.8.8.8 (found some instructions online, I'm no techie!) but it hasn't made any difference. I think Sky are taking the proverbial. I don't know how to change back to the previous DNS now and I'm worried I may have made things worse!

Re: Slow web pages, slow Xbox, Slow everything
No worries now screemer. I've changed the DNS to OpenDNS and everything is now fine. I hadn't followed the instructions correctly last time and only changed the top number instead of both. Told you I wasn't techie! There are still loads of people having problems according to the Sky forum and it's all in this area. They're not sorting it very quickly for all the customers who pay so much for their "wonderful" service are they!

Re: Slow web pages, slow Xbox, Slow everything
Arghhhh, I have same issue and I'm in Bolton, wonder if its the same cause.
According to Sky, my fault is being caused by Windows and I keep being advised to 'phone windows' lol
They said there were no issues locally though.
Sick of it / them now

Call back and politely insist on speaking with a manager.
Obviously you had someone who knows nothing about computers and should have been able to provide a professional answer.
Their name will have been recorded against your previous call.

Re: Slow web pages, slow Xbox, Slow everything
Hi Scubbie,
Thanks for the reply.
My call yesterday was with 'Christopher' who couldn't solve my issue and said 'broadband services' would call me today first thing.
I then get a feedback form via email about 'Christopher' which I duly fill in.
I then get a call from 'Bob' due to the results of my feedback form. I then go through EVERYTHING once again with Bob who then remarkably asks me if I'm sure I spoke to someone yesterday as there is no log of it on my account screen !!!! Helllllooooo Bob, I'm only talking to you due to the result of the feedback form ABOUT Christopher!!
Bob then unbelievably asks me what 'I'd' like him to do to resolve my problem !!
Broadband services never do actually ring me (totally expected)
Then I have to ring Sky back tonight and speak to Claire who finally says it's a windows firewall issue and that I have to ring 'Windows' as Sky have done their part.
Customer service at its best

Re: Slow web pages, slow Xbox, Slow everything
So will you be calling Anglian or Everest?
Seriously, there is a simple way to prove or disprove the statement: Boot up in Safe Mode with Networking.
Redo the speed tests and should they prove the same, then insist that you speak with someone senior.
At least it isn't as bad as what NTL used to do: Disable all the USB Ports and completely mess up your computer, whilst you are on a premium rate line. This rendered your computer completely useless for anything.
