downstream connection speed
Hi, Just need a little advice please, we had a problem at our local exchange yesterday morning (6 hours ish no connections), then afterwards when my wife was on the pc she said it seemed to be slow compared to usual. She rang sky and they went through various tasks and then reset the downstream speed to 10411 (see below)
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 10411 kbps 1112 kbps
Line Attenuation 34.0 db 16.4 db
Noise Margin 7.1 db 8.1 db
The thing is my downstream speed has always been set to the high 11000 (usual 11900 ish) would this make much differance to my speed and how do i get sky to reset it if it needs to be...Thanks Colin

Re: downstream connection speed
Another potential issue is Fibre.
A lot of members have commented that their speeds have dropped when BTO has installed Fibre in the local area. I notice that your exchange is Fibre enabled. I don't know off hand if this is a recent event or whether there is any work still going on near your home.
As WheelNutWalter has pointed out though, you probably won't notice a huge difference.
PlusNet Fibre since Jan 2021
Previously Sky Fibre & Sky BB since 2010.
