Unstable connection (dual dial tone)
Hello,
Not 100% sure where to post this.
Over the last couple of weeks my broadband speed has been all over the show, from 4.5mb up 8mb with regular disconnects occurring before resyncing. Prior to this it had been pretty rock solid at around 5.5mb.
Last night it was particularly bad so I did some troubleshooting and noticed my phone lines dial tone was a dual one usually indicating a message waiting (not that I want or need this service). This happened last year and caused connection issues, so I duly dialled 1571 to check any messages, there are none.
I called Sky at 11pm but CS1 could do nothing for me and said the voice mail service was working fine. So they have escalated to CS2 who had of course gone home
Are there any other ways of getting rid of the dual dial tone?
Also, has anyone experienced only seeing half the information when logging into their router? If I go to the Maintenance tab (Sagem 2504N) it shows down to ADSL port info and thats it, no link options at the bottom. Strangley this only happens on one laptop in the house on any browser!
I'm worried that this line/broadband issue is going to somehow screw my Fibre install on the 30th!!
Thanks.

Re: Unstable connection (dual dial tone)
Do you have your own answering machine device?
Ring your landline, leave a voicemail. Ring 1571 and see whether it registers that you now have a voicemail. If so, delete it and then check if the message tone has gone.

Re: Unstable connection (dual dial tone)
A simple solution, I hate it when those work and I don't think of them!
Normal dial tone restored, will see how connection goes.
Also figured out only seeing some router information, Sophos Anti Virus web blocker was kindly blocking it but not bothering to tell me.
Thanks
