Expected Speeds
Hi,
I've recently moved to Sky from O2, with O2 I got a downstream connection speed of over 19000 kbps. After DLM finished, I called Sky as my line had synced at around 12000 kbps, I asked the guy to increase it to my old levels and he said he couldn't as it would mess with his stats (whatever that means!) and reset it to 1600 kbps. I emailed Sky and they responded that "I have taken a look at your current broadband speed and I have managed to increase it to 1761 Mbps. This is the fastest speed that Sky can supply you"
I'm not convinced that this is true based on my speeds with O2, I've posted my line stats below. Can anybody confirm what the maximum connection speed for my line should be?
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream Connection Speed 17961 kbps 1153 kbps Line Attenuation 14.0 dB 9.4 dB Noise Margin 7.1 dB 9.1 dB

Re: Expected Speeds
Users moving from O2 nearly always sync a bit lower with Sky. This is due partly to the different equipment being used and the fact that O2 use a lower default noise margin than Sky, 6db. The 1db difference in the default margin would account for the loss of 1Mb in your sync speed.
