Hi guys

I'm new to the Sky user forums but I would post this here to ask if anyone has tried the following.

I am fully aware that you cannot set Primary and Secondary DNS servers through Sky's abysmal user interface on the Sky Sagem F@st 2504n router.

However when playing about with the router backup file in Programmers note pad I came across the lines

So I was thinking that although it's not possible to edit these in the User Interface we could in theory edit them in the Config file and then use the 'Restore' function within the 'Router Backup' section of the interface. This should in theory change the DNS settings to whatever we want, say for example 208.122.23.22

Just wondered if anyone had / will try this?

This used to work some years ago on the DG834GT, until Sky upgraded the firmware. It is probably worth a try, at worst if it did not work, you could use the Reset button to return it to default.

There are two references to the DNS settings, depending on what method your Router uses to connect to the Network, MER or ppoa. Just a case of editing the right set, or both to be on the safe side.

I just changed both primary and secondary to 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220

Saved and restored the file, and then logged into the router, shows as

Network Type	PPPoA
IP Subnet Mask	255.255.255.255
Gateway IP Address	87.87.248.221
Domain Name Server	90.207.238.97 90.207.238.99

Did you change the DNS's in the PPOA connection method as there are two methods listed

I just tried as well changing the dnsRefresh=0 to dnsRefresh=1

Restored to the router and it still shows

Network Type	PPPoA
IP Subnet Mask	255.255.255.255
Gateway IP Address	87.87.248.221
Domain Name Server	90.207.238.97 90.207.238.99

And it still works as well lol
