Scrub that. I called Sky and they used their managers system to bump me up to 8.9 as they had me showing as 7.2 but I was synced at 6.1 they are brill
The person who's going to be using it will be chuffed and I suggest you do the same. Just choose the option for broadband not working.

Re: Newbie considering moving to Sky.
lol - No problem. Bon appetite.
There have been a few changes within Sky recently. It does appear that more people are now able to manually adjust the line speeds which sounds good news, but I would always side with you posting the final speeds up here for now as some have forgotten the upstream connection at times.
It is also import to point out that the manual adjustment should not be attempted until after DLM has completed the initial training. Some folks at Sky have been punished for failing to do this in the past and I wouldn't want the membership to place someone's job at risk.

Re: Newbie considering moving to Sky.
The initial period was over. He's manually adjusted it and reset it again to see if it goes up.. worst case is that it's as it is now which is much better than it was.

Re: Newbie considering moving to Sky.
I have no problem with that. However you implied in post #37 that the OP should contact Sky in order to get their speed increased. I wanted to point out that since the initial training period hasn't started yet, it would be unwise to do so.
We have various individuals on this forum who have worked for Sky in the past or are currently working for Sky. I would not wish to jeopardise their jobs or those of anyone else for the sake of someone being impatient or being incorrectly advised.

Re: Newbie considering moving to Sky.
Theres times DLM has ran and av asked for them to end it so that my line gets left uncapped, I reckon DLM can be a waste of time when it caps your speed.
I liked to tweak the SNR and when DLM capped it you couldn't do that, DLM can be rubbish and isn't always needed. It sounds better now though after the recent changes, seems it sets speeds better etc. But when i had sky DLM was a waste of time, capping my downstream and upstream at a 796kbps upload or w.e was poor when i got them to turn DLM off and manually configure it, upload speed would be 1100kbps.

Re: Newbie considering moving to Sky.
Just as a quick update I have no intention of contacting Sky unless I have issues.
I posted my first day router stats just as a follow on to this thread and as a comparison to my original BT stats.
It was interesting (to me anyhow) that my downstream attenuation had only increased by 0.5dB.
I looked at my stats again last night and they were still the same.
I have just checked 'mysky' and there's no line testing occurring yet. There has been no reset on WAN connection times either.
Without trawling through loads of threads (I'm at work so a flying visit) when can I expect DLM to start?

Re: Newbie considering moving to Sky.
The My Sky page is often 3 days slow.
The most useful way to check whether DLM is running is to look at the WAN uptime. If this indicates that your connection was reset between 1am and 6am (normally closer to 2am-3am) then DLM is running.

Re: Newbie considering moving to Sky.
DLM usually starts within 3 days of the line going active. Did you check this morning?

Re: Newbie considering moving to Sky.
Thanks Scubbie and Isitme.
As per my previous post my WAN uptime hadn't reset late last night but I don't get time to check in the mornings, too busy trying to wake my mojo up for the day ahead.
I'll have a check again this evening.
