Will never go back to offshore as long as Sky is in business!

Re: Newbie considering moving to Sky.
Hi all.
Looks like I'm up and running.
I've enclosed my first router stats and they look ok to me, quite a bit of room for improvement as learning progresses?
I would appreciate any feedback from the experts on here.
Thanks.

Re: Newbie considering moving to Sky.
Stop ya whinging :P
Well I am on 42.5DB down and capped at 6.1mbps on my sky line. You are half that so should get double more.Infact the Line Speed Estimator says your line is capable of between 16-24 based on 24.dDB down!
Check for yourself
SkyUser - Potential ADSL2 Line Speed Checker & Calculator
Mine started off at 4096 which everyone's does and then I found the next day it was higher. Yours might be a bit less than the checker says. It says between 8-9 on mine but I get 6.1. I haven't rang Sky yet to see if theres anymore they can do.

Re: Newbie considering moving to Sky.
I'm far from whinging Will
I note from my previous Netgear router stats (with my now former ISP) that downstream was 24dB so the slight increase to 24.5dB surprised me a little, I was expecting another couple on there.
From looking on here I was rather hoping for around 16 ish and the noise margin seems ok to me to suggest something like may be possible.
Hence me asking for a bit of feedback from the experts.
Thanks for your feedback though and good luck with your BB

Re: Newbie considering moving to Sky.
As can be seen from your stats (copied below) you have plenty of room for improvement through the DLM process.
You should be looking at something like at around 16mb or more (that is according to the tool available on the SkyUser site.
Connection Speed 4095 kbps 605 kbps Line Attenuation 24.5 dB 14.7 dB Noise Margin 15.6 dB 19.2 dB
P.S. A little tip for yourself and anyone else posting stats. The new forum software makes it a lot easier, provided that you are in WYSIWYG mode. Take a look at the A/A symbol above where you are typing any response. You should be able to highlight the stats, then copy and paste them into the text box.
