      Whilst you are removing the faceplates, you could remove the 'Ring wire' if it is connected. Take a look on the link below and scroll down the page a little to see what I am referring to:

      If you have any spare microfilters that have not been used, you could try using one of these, with nothing else plugged into any telephone socket.

      For info, BT have installed the Master socket in strange places in the past, including bathrooms and the loft. You should be able to find out which is the master by following the telephone cable outside through to where it enters your home.

      may be other problems but you need to find the master/test socket first. you should certainly get a lot more speed than you currently have.
