Download Speed Is It Being Capped?
Hi
Now on day 6 of testing
I have a download connection speed of 14026 kbps Line Attenuation 32db Noise Margin 7.3db giving a speedtest.net result of 12.08mb/s.
Upload connection speed of 945 kbps Line Attenuation 18.5db Noise Margin 13.5db giving a speedtest.net result 0.80mb/s.
The upload speed has not got any faster now for 2 days whereas the download speed has gone up by about 2mb/s each night.
The maximum upload speed on Sky Unlimited is 1300kbps so why has the upload connection speed remained at 945 kbps for the last 2 night? Caped?
I know I will need to get to the end of the testing (10 days) first, but once their how would I get Sky to set the upload connection speed to 1300kbps?
Thanks in advance.
PS If I asked Sky to put line on "GAMER" setting what affect would it have on ping?

re: Download Speed Is It Being Capped?
What are your router stats like? If the noise margin has dropped to 7-8db you are unlikely to get any more upload. Sky use Annex A which sets aside specific frequencies for the download and upload. If the frequencies for the upload are noisy, this will reduce the possible upload speed. Although 1.3 Mb is the theoretical maximum I have yet to see anyone achieve that. Most with very good lines get a maximum of about 1.2Mb.
I believe DLM sets the line to a minimum delay of 8ms, which is the lowest used by Sky, so a 'gamer profile' may not help any. When DLM is complete you can ask to be moved to the 'gamer profile' and if you get the right agent they can set you to something like 18048/1216, delays 8/8. Getting the right agent is the trick, as some will deny it exists or just tell you you are on it.

re: Download Speed Is It Being Capped?
Looks like you have plenty of margin in hand to raise your upload. When DLM finishes with the download it will probably move back to the upload.

Hi
Router Statistics
Manufacturer
Sagemcom Model Number F@ST2504n Firmware Version 5.23.1a4N
Downstream Connection Speed moved from 14026 kbps to 13931 kbps
Upstream Connection Speed moved from 945 kbps to 1080kbps
Downstream Line Attenuation 32.0 dB did not move
Upstream Line Attenuation 18.5 dB did not move
Downstream Noise Margin 7.3 dB did not move
Upstream Noise Margin moved from 13.5 dB to 8.6 db
Best of all the Ping which has been steady at around 43ms has droped to 25ms
Still have 4 days of testing to go.
Thanks
