Connect Issues
Yes, that's what I'm saying. The reason I'm not in any rush to get off Sky Connect is simple, I simply do not get the pings I use to be able to get, say 5 or 6 years ago, for online gaming
So what's the point?

Re: Sky Unlimited Broadband shaping traffic? Ports 119 and 563 suddenly extremely slo
You have a totally different issue to that which is being discussed in this thread.
Read the FAQ on Sky Connect, get your speedtest results from the BT site and find a new ISP. Sky Connect is pants. To the best of my knowledge no other Broadband package is as bad.

If your exchange does not have a LLU provider, then I would suggest PlusNet or somelike lke that.
PlusNet Fibre since Jan 2021
Previously Sky Fibre & Sky BB since 2010.

Connect Issues
I need help with using any router I want
I want like to learn how to do this because a lot of routers out there lack QoS support, and that causes small but noticeable delays when gaming
I'm not moving back to BT because I hear bad stuff about them throttling BBC iPlayer and stuff like that
But when I switch to a new ISP I would like to know how to use any router I want just incase they give me a crap one
So how do I do this? Just some simple instructions would help

I don't think they would, because it's just your word against theirs. The trick is not to shape everyone at the same time(s), that way you have absolutely no evidence and no way of getting it. We just assume that they go by the book, but they really don't have to though. And I just don't trust companies, their sole aim is to make money

Re: New sky broadband is slow and pings are high
I'm not receiving slow speeds at all, I only receive slow speeds when I'm supposed to, and that's during peak times. Just done a speedtest via speedtest.net: 6.76Mbps and my line can only handle 6. It's the router, it's absolutely rubbish. Also, BT's upload on the their 8meg package was 20kbs or so faster.
But the average download speeds of Sky's d/l on the 8meg package is faster than BT's 8meg package

Using a different make of router will make a significant improvement though, I know it will. I know this because, Connect or not, I know I should be able to browse just fine whilst my bro uploads to Youtube, but this ****ty router stops me
Trust me, if I had this running through a BT router, no problems browsing whilst uploading anymore
I just don't know how to do it
Do I have to install the new router as if I was signing up to a new ISP?

Re: Sky Unlimited Broadband shaping traffic? Ports 119 and 563 suddenly extremely slo
You just don't get how bad Connect is. The router will have a marginal affect on things but you'll still not be able to do anything other than browse during the peak periods. Your brother won't even be able to stream YouTube full stop when it's at it's worst...
You're seriously better looking for a new ISP-------------------------------------------

@Using NewRouter
Stop spamming other people's threads and stick to your own. You are on Connect and these people are on Unlimited - COMPLETELY different service to you so your problem has NO bearing on theirs-------------------------------------------
