New Sky broadband not as fast as expected
Hi there, I recently moved home and ordered Sky Broadband Unlimited with Sky Talk Freetime and it was activated last Tuesday, so 9 days ago. Our download speed started at about 4mbps and inched upwards over the course of about 3 or 4 days to its current level of 8191kbps. I understand that the initial DLM lasts for 10 days, so unless something changes tomorrow I assume that this is my final speed. I am a little disappointed with this as I seem to remember that the estimate that I was given when I ordered was between 9mbps and 16mbps. If this does turn out to be my final speed, is there anything that I can do about it?
Thanks!

Re: New Sky broadband not as fast as expected
The first thing to do is post your router stats to see if people can advise you better. After DLM has finished you can call sky and they will tweak your connection manually.

Re: New Sky broadband not as fast as expected
The speed estimator tool on this forum suggests a downstream speed of between 12mb to 14mb for your line attenuation (see the Tools button above & #3 in the list).
The WAN uptime posted with your connection stats suggests that DLM has indeed completed, so I would be inclined to give Sky a friendly call and ask someone to manually reconfigure your connection. Please be aware that not everyone has access to the correct systems so you may need to make a few calls.
When all is done, please post your revised connection stats so that we can check that you are indeed getting the best from your connection. Some have been known to forget the upstream connection, which is just as important to get right.
