Cannot connect to external network drive
Im new to this so excuse my ignorance if ive got the wrong forum.
i need help - we recently changed to sky from O2. We have WD mybooklive network drive that worked perfectly straight from the box with O2.
However no matter what i try i cannot get the router to even recognise that any WD device is connected.
My son called sky who gave him some mumbojumbo about the firewall without any answer as to how to get around it.
Surely there must be someway to connect these drives
please help

Re: Cannot connect to external network drive
Save yourself some heartache and some hair, forget about the Sky router. Extract your username and password from the Sky router using the info available on this forum. Pop those into your own router and breath a sigh of relief.
I also had untold problems with my Qnap NAS, never had any such problems with my 2wire 2700 v6, it just works, and has done for the last 7 months. In fact I just swapped from the v6 to a v5, and it was up and running in 5 mins, including all the port forwarding and fixed ip's
Just my humble opinion.
I'd just like to add that other than the router issues, the Sky service has been second to none and I couldn't be happier with itLast edited by nw1456; 11-02-12 at 09:20 PM. Reason: Edit:

Re: Cannot connect to external network drive
Your NAS drive will still be looking for the O2 router. There will be a reset button somewhere on it which will return it to factory default settings. Use this, connect it to the router and it should be picked up and recognised.
If you have manual settings on it, change these to 192.168.0.254 - 255.255.255.0. - 192,168,0.1.
