Extending Wireless Signal
Folks, any advice appreciated -
My sky router sits in the family room and a single cat5e cable runs to the living room. In the living room I used a 4 port netgear switch to share the internet access between my PS3 and Sky HD box.
However, the wireless signal in the living room is very poor so stuff like our phones and ipad work poorly.
Do I need a wireless extender and if so which one?
or,
Can I buy a separate device that plugs in to the netgear switch in the living room and kicks out a fresh wireless signal?
The router has to stay in the family room for phone access etc.

Re: Extending Wireless Signal
Replace the 4-port switch with one with WiFi in it?
EDIT: Appears one doesn't exist - strange that-------------------------------------------

Re: Extending Wireless Signal
Do what i did. Buy a cable router. Nothing special as long as it has wifi. Give the cable router a static IP and make sure it cannot give out ip addresses ( DHCP turned off ). Then connect both via ethernet. In your case, it would go to your switch. Make sure you put it in a lan port on thr cable modem not the internet port.

Re: Extending Wireless Signal
WiFi Homeplugs, work great. I installed some netgears for a friend with 3 foot stone walls a couple of years ago. Still working perfectly.
