connection speed dropped from 12800 to 7616
Been decorating and have had to keep unplugging the router and the connection speed as dropped from about 12800 kbps to 7616 kbps (down) and 1200 kbps (i think) to 896 kbps. Now the decorating has finished and the router will remain plugged in as normal , will i get my speeds back automatically? overtime .or do i need to phone sky.

My neighbour had something similar when having some decorating done.
I unplugged his router and plugged it in again making sure that it had really located properly. Problem solved for him.

It is possible DLM has kicked in and capped your line as it thought you had line problems. Reboot your router and if the speed does not come back, call Sky explain what has happened and ask them to put your speed back up.

rebooted router just after 11am and now
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 12287 kbps 945 kbps
Line Attenuation 34.5db 20.4db
Noise Margin 7.3db 15.3db
downstream back to normal maybe a bit lower, upstream upto 945 kbps but im not really bothered about upstream, thanks again ian

Just seems that there was a bit of noise which caused the line to drop the speed - keep an eye on it in case it gets worse

On a side note,my pc when using the speed test below would not go above 5Mb/s (the other 3 laptops always got above 10Mb/s wired and wireless) when i had trusteer rapport installed, but i have just uninstalled it and got the results below. Why would this programme half my speed test results?

It shouldn't do. You may have a bit of malware which Rapport is stopping. Try running Malwarebytes,
