What you refer to as a "splitter" is simply a 3M waterproof junction box. All you have is the drop wire entering this then two "extensions" coming off feeding two NTE5's. To find out what is causing your issue you need to open that external junction & disconnect one of the masters. Not sure why the new socket can only get half the speed, is the cable run long? Even that should not cause that drop off, probably a bad joint. The joints will be via gel crimps or scotchlok.

Re: Master socket problems!!
Thanks Runitdirect. Not being an expert but yes, that does appear to be the case. I would say the length of cable to each of the boxes are near on the same.
However, to my amazement I had a call from openreach today to arrange for an engineer to come out and rectify the problems. They're coming out on Friday. 3 cheers for Olivia Garfield, who came through in the end. So someone does care!! I won't be celebrating until the issues are fixed though.

Re: Master socket problems!!
Just thought I'd mention Openreach came out on Friday and fixed my master sockets. Excellent customer care!
There was indeed a wiring mistake in the junction box outside the house, a mistake by the original engineer who did the master socket move, some 3yrs ago. The engineer on Friday corrected the wiring outside, fitted a new filtered faceplate, and ran some thorough tests, and I can now report I'm currently receiving 6mbps in the new'ish master box. Not sure where I've lost 1mbps from last weekend though. However, I'm not to worried about that as it's still around 3.5mbps faster than what I have been getting for the last 3 years, so pretty pleased with the outcome. The engineer left the original master box in place and confirmed this was simply wired as an extension socket now, how I was told it was wired at the time of the original job, but evidently not!
I'll be emailing Olivia Garfield and thanking her, but will just see how things go over the next couple of days before I do, as it's nice to receive praise, and not just complaints.
Thanks to everyone's input on this thread too.

Re: Master socket problems!!
Good result, thank you for updating us.
If you could post your current line stats, it would be useful to compare and also to ensure that you are getting the most from your connection now.

Re: Master socket problems!!
Wouldn't be surprised if you could another 1-2Mb, give Sky a call and tell them you have had your line fixed and would like your connection reconfigured.
Give the router a reboot before you phone, just in case the speed is already there.
