Internet Speed Dropped
Hello,
This is my first time of posting on theese forums and i dont know too much about the technical side however hopefully i will give you enough information for you to advice me.
We recently changed our telephone line to sky from BT (31st december) and ever since then my internet speeds have been constantly dropping and the router keeps losing connection. My router is connected to a extension socket but i was getting the same speed from the master socket of around 4.2mbps. But since we changed the line i have had 3.7mbps and now it is at 2mbps. I was wondering if this is correct and what i can do? Thanks,

Re: Internet Speed Dropped
You're only getting an unstable 2mbps from the extension. You said you were getting 4.2mbps from the master socket? Move the router back to the master socket and re-post the stats.

Re: Internet Speed Dropped
Looks like the line has been capped at 2048/608 for stability purposes (likely when you've been running the router off the extension socket).
One last thing just to make sure - connect the router to the test socket (link below) with just a filter and the short grey dsl cable that Sky provided running to the router and re-take the stats.

Re: Internet Speed Dropped
Ok, keep it in the test socket and call Sky up - 08442 410515. Ask them to uncap your line and change the line code to g.dmt.

Re: Internet Speed Dropped
Sorry, What does it mean if the line code is changed to g.dmt ?

Re: Internet Speed Dropped
It's just a configuration that Sky can set on their end that may likely help you reach a higher, more stable speed.
