Terrible 0.1 MB Internet With Sky Unlimited
I don't understand this at all. I posted a thread a while ago and no one gave me a concrete solution as to how to solve my 0.1 MB internet speed - except that it was 0.2 MB back then.
The pattern goes like this - 1 month/a few weeks the connection is 0.5 MB (which is really quite good because there's no ping in online games... unless someone is browsing - so I'm happy... sort of), then it goes to 0.1 MB/0.2 MB for a month/a few weeks, rinse and repeat.
I am not being throttled.
I am 1 mile from my landline, which is bad of course, but my internet is not consistently 0.5 MB which is what I should be getting ALL the time.
The people in my area, even just down the road, get 1.4 MB even though they have Sky internet too, not Unlimited though. I checked this online. Oddly, a BT customer a little further away gets 4 MB, even though my line is BT.
This internet is a headache. Any solutions? (I must stress that there is nothing wrong with how I have laid out my cables, or connected my phone line to the box thing or whatever, so do not make solutions requiring these to be tampered with.)

Re: Terrible 0.1 MB Internet With Sky Unlimited
Looks like you are on sky connect too.
This will be because sky do not have their own equipment in the exchange so you have to use BT's and will experience poor speeds anyway even if the sync was higher than it currently is.
You do have problem with your line by the looks of it, can you try the test socket behind the faceplate and repost the stats?

Re: Terrible 0.1 MB Internet With Sky Unlimited
First a couple of questions:
Could you plug the microfilter into the Test Socket, with nothing else other that the Sky router and the short grey ADSL lead supplied with the router connected to the microfilter. This especially includes any Sky STB that is connected to your telephone line
Can you then please take the new stats and post these on the forum.
At the moment I suspect that there is something else going on and not to do with Sky BB Connect.

Re: Terrible 0.1 MB Internet With Sky Unlimited
I don't think you are on Connect, G.dmt which you would be on does not allow the router to show the full attenuation, only a maximum of 63.5db. You are on ADSL2+ which allows the full figure to be shown.
You have a very long bad line all you can do is call Sky and see if they can do anything about it. You could ask them to try your line on G.DMT(ADSL1) this often performs better on long lines, but to be honest I doubt if it will make much difference.

The only thing I would suggest for faster speeds is to see if fibre optic broadband is available in your area either with Virgin Media or BT Vision.

Re: Terrible 0.1 MB Internet With Sky Unlimited
Just in case, could I remind people that a common cause of very low connection speeds is having something connected to the telephone line which is not filtered.
This is why I ask the OP to post the stats from the test socket.
There was also another member earlier this year who had an alarm connected incorrectly behind the master socket. This is what reduced his ADSL connection.

Re: Terrible 0.1 MB Internet With Sky Unlimited
Don't go with virgin if its available in your area, I just moved from sky to virgin and wish I never did, the service is poor, pings are allover the place and never stable speeds, i see 10Mbps after 1am till the morning and thats it. BT Infinity is the only other option if you want higher speeds than what your getting now and if you want it to be reliable.
