No probs aiming for 10mbps, but it's all down to what you were quoted at the POS. And just a heads up, I wouldn't advise telling the Openreach SFI what to do in regards to climbing poles etc. as he might get a little annoyed if you tell him how to do his job.

dont worry i wont be over the top with sfi, i just hope he does his job and expore every possible avenue.

isitme, if i hack my white router and fix the noise margin to say 5, do you expect that i will see a improovement in sync speed or have i got my self mixed up with that

If you manage to lower the noise margin, you will see an increase in sync speed, how much I just don't know.

With the noise margin so low, I would be surprised if it does not drop out or reduce the actual throughput when the line gets busy. But it does prove that Sky did not lie when they said they had uncapped your line.

The low sync is due to the condition of your line.P

im gona use the white router for the rest of the night into the early morning to see what happens, will plug the n router back in for mr open reach tommrow.

I would also suggest that it would be a good idea to check the detailed router stats. Take a look at the CRC errors. If this is too high, then DLM will reduce your connection.
