      Fair comment Tom, but the OP has a solid faceplate in the photo. Assuming that this is the master socket, a filtered faceplate will require that this is replaced with an NTE5 socket as well.

      Yes the T indicates that this is the master socket, quite an old one by the look of it. It really should be replaced with an NTE5 which would allow a filtered faceplate to be fitted.

      I still await the stats

      Not much improvement really, how is your normal phone, any noise?

      Sorry, I have just noticed this bit
      By the way, ever since we got a new phone, although it hasn't affected the speed, the router only connects when the phone is unplugged
      If the phone is plugged into a filter this indicates there is a fault on your line. You should call Sky or your phone rental provider and report a fault on your line.

      Basically there's a splitter, which comes out of the master socket and separates the phone wire with the wire connecting to the router. Isn't that what it's supposed to be?

      And thanks for the help by the way. I'll get to it contacting Sky
