New Router - No wireless! Please Help
Background:
Had an old Netgear router. 2 weeks ago there was a fault on the phone line which left our entire village with no phones for a week. When this was fixed I couldn't get the Internet light on my router (but it did have power).
Sky sent a BT engineer who said broadband was being received so it must be my router that broke during the time that the phone lines were down.
Received a new black D-Link router from sky.
Problem:
I can connect to internet via ethernet no problem - all router settings look ok.
My wireless networks list shows my sky broadband (windows 7).
I click connect, and after a few seconds I receive a message saying cannot connect.
My partner uses a Win XP work laptop and CAN connect
2 Iphones in the house won't connect either!
SO - I have broadband, but 3 out of my 4 devices won't connect to it wirelessly. All these devices worked fine with the old router.
If I try manually creating a wireless network (using correct network key & WPA2 personal -TKIP, I get the same problems.
Any ideas? I'm completely lost!
PS - it doesn't matter where I am in the house. Right now I'm right next to the router and still can't connect.

Re: New Router - No wireless! Please Help
I believe the default encryption method for WPA2 is AES and not TKIP, try changing it manually on the devices that don't connect.

Re: New Router - No wireless! Please Help
Weirdly, I've uplugged the ethernet cable (for an unused line that runsupstairs), plugged it back in, and WiFi connected!
I'll try AES if it fails again, but the setup booklet does say TKIP?
Anyway - will let you know what happens
Thanks

Re: New Router - No wireless! Please Help
Glad you got it sorted, you can lose a lot of hair trying to fix wireless connection problems.
If it does happen again, temporarily turn off all encryption. If it connects, at least you know where the problem lies. Don't forget to turn it back on again
