re: Exchange Question - Sky Broadband
So!
I have been onto Sky and they have tried the G.DMT option but this go me up to 1.5mb/s. They then pointed out that I am 7KM away from the exchange and they will not be able to help me further.
What else can you do? I don't want to move lol that would be mad but I would like a good connection to be able to work from home / use Sky Anytime+ and download at a decent speed???
Thanks

re: Exchange Question - Sky Broadband
Could you please post the current connection stats on your router please?
Also could your trace your telephone line from the point it enters your home to the Master Socket? Are there any junction boxes? Perhaps you have a junction box on the outside wall?
If you do have any, could you please post some photos, and photos of the inside of the junction box?

re: Exchange Question - Sky Broadband
This could be a big clue to the issue. Does your telephone line come directly from outside or does it go up through the core of your building?
Sadly people who live in blocks of flats often get a very poor connection compared to someone living just next door in a house.
As for the wiring, you only need to have wires 2 & 5 connected for most modern telephones. If you are happy, then please pull the wire to pin 3 from the socket and any extension/s. This can make a difference.
Also can you confirm that the microfilter is the first item plugged into your socket and that you have a microfilter installed in every telephone socket in your apartment? One particularly common problem is that Sky Installation Engineers will often connect the Sky STB first and many people then plug the microfilter in afterwards.
Of course if you have a faceplate, then this isn't an issue.

Re: Exchange Question - Sky Broadband
Nice improvement there!
Could you post your stats with the noise margin and line attenuation again as well please?
It might be a good idea for you to consider fitting a filtered faceplate, provided that the socket you have is an NTE5 socket. This has a split faceplate, with the 'test' socket behind it.
