We were going to change to sky line rental but this thread concerns me! Do many experience speed loss when moving to sky's equipment?
We are supposed to get infinity in March and I can't decide whether to comit to sky for 12 months or wait it out and get some fiber

Re: Upgraded to Sky Line Rental and speeds are low
When, I was with "Be" with a "BT line" I got a 9,017 kbps connection speed.
With, "Sky Line Rental" I dropped to 7,007 kbps - quite a drop but, a lot cheaper on the finances.
If your exchange is going live in March with "Infinity I would personally wait.
Unfortunately, my exchange has been delayed until December 2012.

Re: Upgraded to Sky Line Rental and speeds are low
With my previous ISP my connection was a max speed of 17.1mb on Annex A.
With Sky, I'm 1kbps short of 20mb.
It really depends on who you are moving from and to. BT, for example, reserve some of your bandwidth for the BT Openzone, BTFon & extra phone services. OT uses a lower noise margin target than Sky, so it is often higher.
I also suspect the BT Openreach are now using the cheaper copper coated aluminium cables now as too many people are stealing the copper in the ground. This alone is responsible for speed drops.
PlusNet Fibre since Jan 2021
Previously Sky Fibre & Sky BB since 2010.
