Sky capping me?
Hi,
Just under 2 weeks ago i was getting a speed of close to 5mb then DLM was running on my line (dont know why there wasnt anything wrong with my connection, atleast i didnt notice anything wrong with it) my speed went down to 3 mb. So i ring up sky today and ask them if DLM has finished running and they said it stopped running on the 13th october. I then told them that i was getting close to 5mb before dlm started, so they ran a few tests and said that 3mb is the fastest i can get on my line when clearly it isnt, so what gives?
Here's my stats from the test socket.
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 3286 kbps 714 kbps
Line Attenuation 49.5db 30.0db
Noise Margin 7.1db 8.5db
Before i rang them this morning my noise margin was around 12, it seemed to go down when they were checking my line.

Re: Sky capping me?
As things stand, that is about the most you can get. The near default noise margin shows that you are not being capped. If you were this figure would be higher. There may be a fault on your line which reduced your noise margin to such an extent that DLM kicked in to correct it.
How is your voice line? Any bad noise, check by plugging a corded phone into your test socket and dial 1 digit. You should hear nothing except a very faint hiss at most.
