Re: Can I get an increase in upload?
you can squeeze more on the downstream
and around 3 times as much on the usptream by the looks of it

Re: Can I get an increase in upload?
Thank you for the reply
If I phone Sky and ask them to increase my upload rate will this affect my download sync rate? (i.e. will they need to lower the downstream rate to gain a higher upload?)

Re: Can I get an increase in upload?
No
they can also set your downstream rate higher

Re: Can I get an increase in upload?
Just phoned Sky and asked if they could tweak a few things, got through immediately to CST who worked some magic. does things look any better?

Re: Can I get an increase in upload?
It may not look it, but that certainly does look a little better. Importantly the upload speed has also been increased as well.
Provided that it stays stable, you should manage a little better with that connection speed.

Re: Can I get an increase in upload?
Thanks Scubbie
I thought too about squeezing more from the download speed, usually if I reboot the router early in the morning it will give me between 4096-4224kbps but because I rang Sky at about 10pm and they resynced the connection, due to the time of day it would have possibly prevented me from squeezing that bit more.
I didn't realise how beneficial upload speed was before this, now I'm finding that I can actually use the internet to browse webpages while I'm downloading things. Before hand, it was much slower.

Re: Can I get an increase in upload?
It certainly does make a huge difference. I generally advise people to cap the upload speed of any torrent program during the day so that 'normal' browsing can happen for that reason.
As for resetting the router, you may wish to let things settle down first as you've had a history of an unstable connection. See how it goes for a few days before resetting it again.
