Activation confusion
Quick timeline of events: -
- 28th Sept 2011 - Ordered Sky Broadband Unlimited
- 01st Oct 2011 - Moved into new property
- 04th Oct 2011 - Received router/microfilters etc
- 12th Oct 2011 - Phoneline activated
The thing that is currently confusing me is I don't know when on earth I'll get broadband. The welcome letter doesn't say any activation date (other than the activation for the phoneline), the box that the router came in doesn't say anything
Oddly enough, I've just had a look at my order tracking page and it says under the "broadband" heading: -
Your equipment has been dispatched and should be delivered within 3-5 working days from: 09/10/2011
Has anyone experienced a similar issue and is there any general rule to follow once the phone line is activated? Or is it just try the router each day and hope that one day it connects?
Thanks for any help

Re: Activation confusion
Depending on the local telephone exchange and what equipment you are going to be connected to, sometimes Sky enables Broadband at the same time as the telephone line, other times it can take up to 2 weeks for the broadband to be activated.
If you do receive a 2nd Sky router, keep hold of it for at least 6 months before you consider giving it to someone as they may ask for the 2nd to be returned, if indeed you receive a 2nd router.
The router that you have was launched in August this year and so far most people appear to be happy with it.

Re: Activation confusion
Thanks for the prompt reply! I've already tried the router but the status just says the broadband is "disconnected" so I'm going to assume that means it's still awaiting activation
also - thanks for the tip about holding onto any secondary routers they send out, didn't think about that one
I might give them a ring tomorrow if the order tracking page doesn't change.

Re: Activation confusion
If you don't have broadband at the moment, just leave the router plugged in. When the i light turns green, you are ready to go
Remember everything plugged into the phone line, including and especially Sky digi boxes, must be plugged into a filter.
