Hello loudness,
Please provide us with some more information:
On your router, do the following:
- Click Maintenance
- Scroll to bottom and click Show Statistics
- Copy and Paste the bottom table which includes Attenuation and SNR info.
That should help us to see what your line can achieve.
George.

If you are only getting 10 Mb throughput, that is poor. What OS are you using? How many devices have you connected to the router? What speed tester are you using?

Re: Sagemcom F@ST2504n
The other week I ran a few speed tests and my results varied hugely.
The main download speed was around what is shown in my signature (see below), but I got speeds varying from around 5Mb/s to just short of 23Mb/s.
Admittedly this was the largest variation I had ever seen using Speedtest.net, but it does show that it can be unreliable at times.
IMHO you need to run a variety of tests and use the recommended servers for your current connection, then run a few on the other servers, gradually working away from the recommended server.
This needs to be done at different times of the day to gauge how good your line may be.
The router stats are the best way though as these tend to be more reliable and consistent. If they fluctuate wildly, then you have a line or microfilter issue.

I should also have asked if you are using wireless? This can make a very big difference to your speed. If you are plug in an ethernet cable, do a speed test and note the difference.

hello,
sorry for delay.
the table requested
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 15357 kbps 1077 kbps
Line Attenuation 13.0 dB 8.7 dB
Noise Margin 6.7 dB 8.1 dB
My OS is Ubuntu.
When i am testing internet speed only my netbook connected.
Yes i am using WiFi when i am testing speed, router always 5 metres from laptop
Using Speedtest.net
this is test results using wifi
this is using wire
and also table using cable
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 15357 kbps 1077 kbps
Line Attenuation 13.0 dB .7 dB
Noise Margin 6.7 dB 8.1 dB

Re: Sagemcom F@ST2504n
Speedtest results over WiFi are less reliable than with Ethernet cable. A lot of interference can occur in even 5m, but that could be discussed another time.
You will get a small difference in the results of a speed test when compared to the router's connection speed. This is due to overheads.
With you Line Attenuation you should be able to achieve a 20Mb connection. I would suggest that something is holding you back. Normally this will be your wiring. You noise margin levels are at Sky's preferred level, but I believe that this is deceptive.
Are you connecting your router to the Master socket?
Sky User - How to test your Master Socket
Do you have any extensions wired to the back of the master socket?
Are you using a microfilter in each socket or are you using a filtered faceplate?
Sky User - Which ADSL Faceplate Filter?
Is your Sky STB connected to the telephone socket? If it is, is it the first item connected or is it connected via the microfilter or filtered faceplate's telephone socket?
Are you using the short grey ADSL lead supplied with the router or another longer lead?

Re: Sagemcom F@ST2504n
Using ethernet you would expect 13-13.8Mb so you are not really that much below the minimum. As Scubbie says, wireless can vary a lot. Sorry, I don't know enough about Linux to advise on how to improve your throughput. Again, as Scubbie says, you should have a much better sync speed, which in turn should improve your throughput.

Re: Sagemcom F@ST2504n
i tried different socket in my flat, but speed is same.
i always less 12Mb speed when. My contract says 20Mb
i would be happy to see 17+Mb speed.
Sky says that I should get 12-19MB speed, but it is very big difference where is 12 MB and where is 19Mb.
What i should do get bigger speed? should i contact sky support ?

Re: Sagemcom F@ST2504n
Sky's connection speed is 'Up To 20Mb'. Due to the way that ADSL works, no one using this system can provide the maximum connection speed to everyone.
Some members who live quite close to their local telephone exchange have been able to get 22Mb connection speeds. Others who live some distance are lucky if they can achieve 1Mb. Sky's average is around 7.8Mb.
Changes in the firmware will not improve your connection speed. However other simple measure may help to ensure that you are getting the best from you connection.
In post #7 I asked how your router is connected to the telephone like and if you could post the stats from the Master Socket. Could you have a go at doing this please?
If you have an NTE5 socket, could you remove the faceplate and post the stats from the test socket behind it too please? Whilst using the Test Socket, could you confirm that any extensions you have are dead.
These questions are important and may help us to guide you towards getting a better connection. Your initial connection speeds may be unchanged, but we need to see all the figures to gauge better what is happening and to be able to advise where to go from there.
