Re: Stable connection but WAN uptime reconnects every day
Thank you once again for the helpful reply.
This does make sense, my connection is really temperamental. It seems to be whenever its past 5.00pm at night the trouble starts and things don't get stable again until around 3am. I also remember downloading a tool from here and posting its report and a forum member mentioned that when my broadband disconnects the line margin doesn't decrease beforehand, it just drops completely and I get 0kbps/0kbps as if someone has flicked it off with a switch.

Re: Stable connection but WAN uptime reconnects every day
What time does the central heating come on?
Or is there anything else in the house that is on a timer?
I had an issue years ago at Xmas and it was the neighbours Xmas decorations believe it or not.~ Never, ever, argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience ~

Anything like what Ged has suggested is definitely worth investigating.
Another member on hear fitted something to stop his central heating from spiking the mains. This had been causing him problems.

Re: Stable connection but WAN uptime reconnects every day
Its just disconnected again. New stats. I notice the noise margin for upload is very low, could it be this causing the disconnects? I'm really tempted to just phone Sky again and ask them to put me on G.DMT as obviously they've put me on an even higher ADSL2+ profile which isn't doing me any favours. The agent said they'd monitor my line for 24 hours though so they probably wouldn't be able to do it.

It does indicate an issue. Let someone call you back tomorrow evening first.

Re: Stable connection but WAN uptime reconnects every day
So Sky didn't end up phoning back this evening. Very strangely though it hasn't dropped for 24 hours since I last reported. Although the sync speed is the same as in my last post the noise margin for my upload seems a lot more sensible. Very strange how it was almost 1dB last night and tonight its been 8dB with no disconnections.

Re: Stable connection but WAN uptime reconnects every day
No problem.
What do you intend to do now?
From my perspective you have a few choices:
- Continue to monitor the line for a few more days
- Call back and get it moved to ADSL1 to see if it is better
- Leave it as it is
- Something else

Re: Stable connection but WAN uptime reconnects every day
I think my next step is to give Sky a call tomorrow night and while I'm out tomorrow, will see if I can get hold of a set of homeplugs so I can have the router at the master socket. I just feel it will give me a better indication whether or not its interference with an appliance, router issue or indeed the internal wiring in the house.

Re: Stable connection but WAN uptime reconnects every day
Had a WAN uptime of 75 hours this week, thought things were on the up until tonight when I've had over 3 disconnections. I tried phoning Sky and they put me through to the tech department. When I explained that I wanted to be moved to G.DMT the agent said that in all the years he'd worked with Sky he'd never heard of such a thing and couldn't do anything. I guess I'll try again tomorrow, I know for a fact that some of their tech team know what it is as they have done it for me before.
Anyway, I'm about to buy some homeplugs as I'm hoping that moving to the master socket will eliminate the problem. I don't want to spend too much money on a set as its pretty much an experiment to see if the problem goes away when I use the master socket. Would these homeplugs do the job? I read somewhere that homeplug's allowed you to connect them to the socket but still use another appliance and therefore not lose a plug. Do they all have this feature or is it only certain models? The one I linked to above seems like it doesnt. Secondly, how are they electricity wise? I understand that they use the electrical circuit to connect and tbh right now I'd like to try and save as much electricity as possible.. will I notice a major increase?
