Re: Internet keeps dropping connection, please help!
Just phoned sky again, was told there are NO more tests sky can do and that BT will have to come out AGAIN to my house. This is totally ridiculous as I am constantly having to have time off work for this and have been offered nothing in the shape of a reduced bill of compensation for my lack of internet. Also the woman asked me what BT have done, then I said fitted a filtered faceplate, she then said, and I quote "have you checked your microfilters?" Hello? Did I really get told that by a high level customer service person at sky?

Re: Internet keeps dropping connection, please help!
Phoned sky again, was told I would be called back tonight, which never happened. How nice of them. 69 drops since 2:30pm till now, I am at a total loss as to what to do now as every time I ring I am told they will ring back, or that there is nothing more they can do. Are there any ex engineers on here that have experienced what I am experiencing, or anyone who works for sky or anyone that has any idea why my internet goes off so frequently?

Re: Internet keeps dropping connection, please help!
Does anyone have anymore ideas about what could be causing this issue? Sky have said because I am on connect there is nothing they can do? I am sure they are fobbing me off.

Re: Internet keeps dropping connection, please help!
I think if I were in your place I would ask for my MAC and go to Plusnet. You may have the same problems to begin with, but I think +net are better at getting this sort of thing fixed than Sky. Being owned by BT they seem to have a better relationship with BTO than Sky, who don't seem to have any relationship at all. The fact that your connection has been so bad means Sky will have no option but to let you go.

Re: Internet keeps dropping connection, please help!
Would it be worth going with BT FTTC which we have just had installed in our area, or will I still get the same problems? Or will FTTC eliminate the problems I am having? Also my cabinet is at the end of my street.

Re: Internet keeps dropping connection, please help!
Your problem would probably be completely eliminated if you changed to fibre. The line back to the exchange from the cabinet would be completely different as would be the exchange equipment. I would certainly go for that. Plusnet also do fibre connections and it would not cost you much more than you are paying.

Re: Internet keeps dropping connection, please help!
Spoke to sky again earlier, my fault has been escalated to the highest point at BT now and yet another engineer (number 3) is coming to my house on Saturday. That will be sky's last chance, if they can't sort it then I am leaving regardless of my contract which they can have no argument with as my connection has dropped over 700 SEVEN HUNDRED times in the past 2 weeks.

Re: Internet keeps dropping connection, please help!
If I were you I would leave anyway, with fibre you will get about 15 times the download speed you have and over 20 times the upload, for about the same price.

For the past 1 hour 25 mins my net has been fine, interestingly the upstream noise margin has dropped 1db lower than it ever has before, now at 22db. Could that be having an effect?

Re: Internet keeps dropping connection, please help!
Forget that, it dropped, re synced at 23db and has dropped 15 times in the past hour.
