Cannot access particular site on SkyBB

Hi

Could I ask some of you to try going to http://www.beckfoot.bradford.sch.uk/ and seeing if it works?

I have never had a poblem with this site (the school where I work) until last night and now all I get is "Firefox can't find the server at www.beckfoot.bradford.sch.uk".



I have tried other browsers with a similar result and have tried other devices connected to my router with the same result (laptop, Blackberry, Wii and Kindle). I have rebooted the router but still the same.

Other people tell me that the site is working fine. I have also tried proxy server sites and none of them work (saying connection timed out). Have also tried pinging the site with no result.

I am wondering if it is a Sky problem ...

I am really confused!

Doesnt work for me either and i'm on O2 so dont think its a Sky issue.
Maybe the server is down ?

I have tried to access that site and I get the same as you,

Im with BT for my broadband.

Thanks for this. Strangely the site works at school (and I have just done a remote session into the school and it is working). The site is definitely working and it is hosted externally at Fasthosts, whose status shows they are having no problems.

This is really odd! Would appreciate more people trying, especially on different networks.

Is the site hosted on the fasthosts servers are is it redirecting to a web server in the school?

The site is hosted on a Fasthosts server but I believe the domain name is owned by the education authority.

I actually made the site a few years ago but the hosting is done by someone else. Do you think that the people looking after the domain have messed something up in the mapping to the Fasthosts IP address/details?

I would say its a DNS issue somewhere along the line...

As it gets so far on the trace route and drops at hop 14, when I do a whois on Ip address on hop 14 I get

192.18.84.in-addr.arpa. 270 IN SOA ns0.catalyst2.net. hostmaster.active-ns.com.

Looks like one of the name servers

I would contact the person that has sorted your hosting out and ask him to check the DNS.

Thanks for your help. It seems that our education authority has 'deleted' our domain names. How they did that is anyones guess!

Hopefully we will be up and running again soon!
