DML not started yet?
Hi new user here..just want to ask if it's normal that 4 days since i got re-connected after moving house that DML hasn't yet started on my line..
I was really looking forward to high speeds after only been on 3.5mbs at my old house but i'm only getting 4mbs so far..

Re: DML not started yet?
Good morning.
Hopefully DLM will have kicked in whilst you were sleeping last night.
Could you repost your stats, with the uptimes as well please?
I would guess that you should be able to achieve a 14-16Mb connection speed based on the tool on this site.
I had to add a little to your line attenuation as those figures show that you are currently on ADSL, not ADSL2+. This will change when DLM kicks in and the line attenuation will rise as a result.
In the mean time do take a look around and ensure that you are getting the best from your connection by using the master socket and perhaps fitting a filtered faceplate.

Re: DML not started yet?
Hi thanks for your reply here are my stats with uptime... my son turned the plug off 2 days ago otherwise it would show 4 days uptime.

Re: DML not started yet?
I might be tempted to call Sky and ask if DLM has been triggered for your line as it appears that it has not yet started.
If it hasn't kicked in by Sunday, call again and ask nicely to get it started manually.
Remember that you are looking at the WAN uptime to see if DLM has been doing anything. Typically this will show a reset between 2-3am, but could be any time between 1am and 6am.
In the mean time ensure that the router stays on 24/7 over the next two weeks. Ideally you should turn the router off, ever. The current Sky routers benefit from being left on all the time and being placed in their stand so that they are on their side with the ADSL Port at the bottom.
This ensures that there is airflow to help keep the components cool and the aerial is uppermost. Turning them on & off helps to shorten their lives.
I would also recommend changing the Network (WiFi) password from the default 8 capital letters and also the SSID (router name) to something else. It wouldn't take a 12 year old long to crack the default WiFi settings if required.

Re: DML not started yet?
thanks for the information... i phoned sky and they got me to plug router into every socket in the house and they started dlm on my line but it is still just 4096 download. Apparently there is a fault somewhere because my dload has not changed and they said the max i should get is 8mbs i live in a brand new house only 5 years old and i am only half a mile away from my exchange.
thanks for your time.

Re: DML not started yet?
Good morning.
A reasonable start. The first change varies hugely between people.
There will be more changes to come though. It still looks as though you should get around 14Mb.
I've noticed that the Sagem 2504N seems to give a lower Line Attenuation than other routers, but it doesn't provide a significant improvement on the connection speed as a result.

Re: DML not started yet?
6Mbps with a 28 attenuation and low SNR isn't good

Re: DML not started yet?
It may be advisable to plug into the Test socket and take the stats from there. It seems to be a very big drop in noise margin, even allowing for the switch to ADSL2+, for very little speed increase.
