sky going from good to bad?
I've always praised the sky BB for years until.... now :-/
about 4 years ago I got sky BB. really happy with it - unlimited use for £10/month. great!
This was on the Netgear D834GT router I believe ( the white one!)
that sadly died last weekThey dont make products like they used to. So they sent me a new router.
now I was able to get speeds of up to 15MB before I got moved onto LLU then DLM kicked in and reduced it to 12MB then over the months to 11MB. I am 900m from the exchange.
So now I have the router and now getting 10MB. not happy. yes, changed the microfilters too. I always had the filter plugged into the back of the faceplate socket (to the master/test socket) which is how I was able to get from 6MB capped to 14MB in the first place when I got my sky BB.
now they are saying that they have placed DLM on my line... and the connection dropped and now getting 9.9MB!
whats going on?
funny because I got a letter through the post this week saying infinity are in my area and I can get speeds of up to 30MB.... and I know I will. but dont wanna pay due to their restrictions and cost!

Re: sky going from good to bad?
Unless you get better in the test socket that's going to be your lot. How are you set up?
And with a 35dB attenuation there's no way you're 900m from the exchange. If you are, your line goes a VERY weird way to your house. I'm 1.1km (by road) from my exchange and have an attenuation of 29dB-------------------------------------------

Re: sky going from good to bad?
thanks. well the guy told me this last week that i am around 900m from the exchange. he was a good technician though...
but i dont get it. if i was able to get 14MB before... why not now?
how am I set up? simple - test socket behind the face plate -> ADSL Filter > router (no extension cables)

Any noise on your voice line?
Looking at your upstream, it looks like DLM is training on your line. You have just over an hour uptime, did you reboot the router? If DLM is running you don't want to be rebooting too often or it will restrict the speed. Be patient and let DLM run, it often does a better job than can be done manually.
