New activation, not working :(
Our activation date for Sky ADSL was the 10th (yesterday) so we fired everything up and it didn't work. Today it still doesn't work, the router switches on fine but the ADSL light flashes red (Sagemcom 2504N). The previous tenants left an old D-Link Sky router which we also tried but flashes orange. Sky are sending us a new router (I have doubts over whether this is the problem given we can't even handshake with the exchange on either router) and also put in a CST report or something, he didn't really explain what it was. Any ideas?

Re: New activation, not working :(
This is the newest of Skys routers and it could be they are having problems, but the fact that the Dlink, which I assume is a Sky one, is unable to connect, suggests the line is not properly activated.
I expect Sky took you through the basic set up of plugging the filter into the master socket then plugging the router into that using the grey cable?

Re: New activation, not working :(
There was no test socket behind the faceplate. I think it's because we are in a stack of 8 apartments, everyone elses internet works fine however. We have a dialtone. Tried different microfilters.
Just bought a Draytek 2820 as eventually I want to have 2 internet connections anyway but after a brief play about not been able to get anything going with that either.

Re: New activation, not working :(
Your flats may have a service cupboard containing all of the master sockets, hopefully with the phone port blanked off. The best thing you can do is find the first socket on the phone circuit and fit an XTF85 on it. This will isolate all the other sockets from the broadband signal and give you the cleanest connection possible to the main line. I realize this is not always possible with modern multi-use faceplates which are common in flats.
