Need a new router
Hi guys,
I have a problem here.
I currently have Sky Broadband Unlimited and a Netgear DG834GT (white) router. Have had it since 2007 and has never had a problems, until now.
We were re-arranging our living room and the router fell off the shelf, breaking the antenna, which is affecting the wireless signal, so a new one is needed.
I called Sky to query a replacement router, and I have been told they now supply the Sagem router (the little mini Sky HD Box) for £28. I have heard stories that these routers are not very good and I refuse to use a unreliable router. I asked if I can use a router of my choice, which means I need the ADSL Username and Password, but they refused to give it to me. I know there is a way to extract it, but I asked the manager if it's actually AGAINST their T & C's to use our own router. She said it's not against their T & C's and I will not be disconnected if I use my own router. She did say there is information online to get the Username and Password, but they cannot supply it to me. Crazy, and pointless and why not just tell us what it is, if you can get it online?
Is the manager right, that it is not against their T & C's? She assured me I will not get disconnected.
Thanks in advance.
Wayne.

Re: Need a new router
It is against the T&Cs, but you won't be disconnected.
Code:3. The Wireless Router (d) Sky Broadband must only be accessed via your Wireless Router. Source: http://www.sky.com/shop/terms-conditions/broadband/
* This is a brief I read a while back and could be outdated i.e. may not be being released Monday.

Re: Need a new router
Then why did the manager say it's not against the T & C's?
Not really much point getting an N router, since my wireless cards in the PC and laptop are b/g.
Is this new router a Netgear?

Re: Need a new router
Just get yourself a new antenna. Should not cost more then 2-3 pounds.

Re: Need a new router
I already asked if they can send a replacement antenna. They said they don't.

Re: Need a new router
Sky used to be able to, but maybe they're right seeing as they haven't sent out the phase 1 in years. You could call again to confirm if this is the case, I suppose.
