What do yous think of my speed?

Hello everyone, just want to know your opinions on my speed whether it is about right for my stats and so on, here goes:

Bandwidth Down/Up(kbps) 5170 / 969
SNR Margin Down/Up(dB) 7.4 / 9.1
Attenuation Down/Up(dB) 44.5 / 26.1
Power Down/Up(dBm) 12.4 / 19.3

Your speed is poor considering the length of your line. If you have a test socket plug your router into it and post your stats from it.

Thanks for the quick reply Exdee, and ill have to try this and see if i get the same stats or not, although I've never had over 6000kbps sync rate with the download without it disconnecting constantly, and that was with talk talk. I'll try and get round to testing at the test socket and post the stats here though, thanks lewis.

Just done a test at the test socket now and the improvements are amazing!

SNR Margin Down/Up(dB) 6.9 / 7.8
Attenuation Down/Up(dB) 45.5 / 26.0
Power Down/Up(dBm) 12.3 / 18.6

are these more realistic stats going by the attenuation? thanks lewis.

Get yourself a filtered faceplate and keep your router at the master socket.

thanks alot, and i suppose ill have to use my pc and xbox wirelessly, and how come when i put the faceplate back on and plug it in i love 2000kbps sync speed? i dont get it!, but would this filtered faceplate let me keep the 7000kbps+ sync speed or? thanks lewis.

The way things are at the moment all the sockets in your house are carrying a ADSL signal which causes interference and slows you down.

By installing a filtered faceplate you will be filtering out the ADSL signal at your master socket. Any other extension sockets you may have will be left voice only. The isolation of the ADSL signal will give you better speed.

You will get the same speed as your test socket with a filtered faceplate.

No problem.

I forgot this before. An IDC tool is required for making the connections on the faceplate.

That's the professional way of doing it. But many have found that a credit card can be used to punch down the wires too.
