Connectivity and router issues
I searched for someone reporting these problems and found similar but think I've tried all the fixes.
My router is connected directly to my master socket, with the face plate off. I've tried a different filter, using static ips instead of dhcp, connecting my laptop via Ethernet, I've reset the router using the pinhole at the back, both with the power on and off. I've tried a different power source (though not quite right rating it gives the same results).
I can't get to the setup page on the router via Ethernet and the @ light is amber.
The Ssid is broadcasting. The default encryption is in place following the reset.
Can't think of anything else to try. Spent 3 hours on the phone to sky. Now I have to wait 4 days for 2nd line to call me!
Any ideas?
Oh, the router in my details might be wrong. It's a netgear but doesn't have a model number.

Re: Connectivity and router issues
What colour is the router?
Have you still got the CD that came with the router?
It is possible to re flash the router by putting it into recovery mode. If you tell me what colour it is I can give you instructions on how to re flash it.

Re: Connectivity and router issues
It's dark grey with almost golf ball styling on it.
We moved recently and I can't find box I had with the router cd in it. I'm worried that our lass has thrown it away.

Re: Connectivity and router issues
No worries if you don't have the CD..
Download the firmware of your choice using the links below:
Sky firmware
Original Netgear firmware
Download the flashing utility using this link.
Follow the steps in this guide to re flash your router using an ethernet cable. If using windows vista or 7 make sure you run the utility as administrator and in compatibility mode for xp.

Nice one. I'm on my phone so I'll shoot to my parents and grab them in the morning

Re: Connectivity and router issues
Ok I've flashed it from 2222 to 222c but there's no change. The Internet light isn't on and I can't access the router admin page.
Any more ideas?

Re: Connectivity and router issues
What firmware did you use? Did you reset the router after flashing it?
Do you hear a 'click' when you press the reset button?

Re: Connectivity and router issues
I used the sky firmware linked above. It reported the mac fine within the utility.
I haven't reset it since flashing it. I've had conflicting advice from sky first line
On how to do it. Do I pull the power and hold it in, like accessing recovery mode? That's what I was told to do yesterday.
[edit]when I say I can't access the router config page I mean I don't even get a login prompt. I can't ping it either. Though obviously I could connect via Ethernet whilst flashing it. This is boggling my head.

Re: Connectivity and router issues
Nope. You are supposed to turn the router on and let it run for a while. Then insert a pin into the reset hole and wait till you see a few lights come on (takes about 10 secs) at the same time. As soon as you see the lights come on let go of the reset button and wait for the router to boot up.

Re: Connectivity and router issues
Ok I'll do that. I've just noticed that whilst the router is booting up I get access to the admin page. Once it is up and running I lose it again. Does that make sense?
