POP Email Issues - Can't Send
Hello, I've just moved house and had sky broadband installed after previously being with NTL. I use Outlook Express for my emails to which I have various POP accounts set up which aren't Sky, 2 accounts are with UK2.
I've set up Outlook to revieve the POP emails and I haven't any problem getting them into my inbox, but I can't seem to get the emails sent. I've read the many set-up guides on many sites but I can't find anything which covers this particular problem.
I've set up the incoming servers to the right ones (mail.uk2.net) but I think the problem lies with the smtp server, I currently have it set as the sky smtp (smtp.tools.sky.com) but when sending I get a log in box pop up (username & password) but the username and password doesn't get them mail sent - I just get asked for the username & password again.
Could this be a problem with Sky not letting and any other POP mail use their smtp?
Any help would be a big help.
Thanks in advance.

Re: POP Email Issues - Can't Send
Unfortunately the Sky mail server appears to block many innocent mail servers from being accessed.
However there is a great solution available, at no cost. Please read the link below and follow the instructions carefully:

Re: POP Email Issues - Can't Send
use the smtp server provided by your email provider i.e. uk2 should have their own, use that. just because your with sky, doesnt mean you should use their smtp server. i have gmail imap and pop servers configured, unless i have misunderstood what you were saying, if so i am sorry. feel free to correct me if i am incorrect.

Re: POP Email Issues - Can't Send
Unfortunately many ISPs block access to some specific email servers. Sky is no exception to this.
Although I can get access to the Yahoo mail server, for example, others are deliberately blocked. I suspect the the UK2 servers are too.
Please be patient. SatDish is away at the moment and will be back soon to process the applications once more. In the mean time, ask yourself if you did complete the application in full. Many people have missed some vital information in the past.

Re: POP Email Issues - Can't Send
I don't think this necessarily true. Some ISP's block port 25 (o2 for instance) which will stop access to any SMTP servers using that port (which is most of them!) although some allow use of another port for that very reason.
SKY do not block any ports so if you are unable to access some other SMTP servers it is likely they are not allowing access at their end unless you are coming from within their own network.
