Sky bb stopped working

Hello .so my sky bb stopped working two days ago.have no @ light on the router .plugged a phone into the socket and have no dial tone.chances are a fault with the line?so my question is,do I phone sky and have the send a by engineer out,or do I contact bt direct seeing as they maintain the phonelines?thanks for your time .Steve

If your phone isn't working & line rental is with BT then call them first.

The whole package is with sky ,I assumed that bt still owns the line , even tho I pay sky for line rental .I give sky a call.thanks for the reply .steve

Ok ,just phoned sky .they won't deal with me cos the account holder (wife) is not at home .dammit lol

I have that problem with my wife's car insurance which I arrange. They insist on talking to her first even though they've my name as the paymaster. PITA

It is a pain .thing is I think I know wat the problem is and could proberly be fixed with 2mins work.the green box that holds the phone cables out on the street,you no the ones?, it had it's door removed by vandals and the door is still off over 3wweeks after the act,the cables look a mess and I'm sure mine is come away from the terminal .

If its the actual junction box on the street call BT and report it, they will likely send an engineer out to it.

As for calling Sky, ask your wife to put a password on the account. As long as there is one on and you know it, they can access the account and deal with you.

Just phone bt and reported the damage to the green street cabinet.if I catch sight of the btor engineer outside do u think it would be rude of me to ask him to make sure my line is connected at the green street box? Or is that a no no?.I am 99.99% sure that is the problem .steve

Sure, it would be worth a try, but you're best calling Sky (once you have the password to your wife's account) and having them log the fault to Openreach.

Just saw the bt engineer.no dice.seems they have an allocated timescale for each job and the can't start doing things they have not be given.fair enough .back on the blower to sky it is then .
