Port forwarding ps3 on sky bb

Have been advised by sky and Sony that I need to port forward my ps3 as I can't sign in. I have another ps3 connected to sky bb (wired) and that is fine. It is the one that is connected wireless. Does anyone have an idiots guide to help me set-up? Thanks

It will only be a port issue if you have Upnp disabled on your router. It is enabled by default.
Can you use the internet browser or bbc iplayer on the ps3 or does that not work either?

Both are ok and working well.

If sony have given you specific ports to open on your router then go ahead and create the exception rules in your routers firewall. Alternatively you can set up a static ip address on your ps3 and add it to the DMZ on your router.

I found instructions on the net to change your IP address however i got lost half way through as the menu's on my PS3 were different to what was on the help document. My PS3 keeps picking my sky router so wont let me change IP address. Also keyed in my IP address in the net however the password admin for the sky router doesn't work!!!

The username for the router is admin and the password is sky.

To set up a static ip address on your ps3 do the following:

1. Boot up the PS3 and go to Settings | Network Settings on the XMB (Cross Media Bar).

2. Select Internet Connection and make sure it is Enabled.

3. Go back to Settings | Network Settings on the XMB.

4. Select Internet Connection Settings, select Yes when a confirmation screen is displayed stating that you will be disconnected from the Internet.

5. Select Wireless

6. Select Custom.

7. Select Auto-Detect.

8. For IP Address Setting select Manual and use the following:

ip address: 192.168.0.212
subnet mark: 255.255.255.0
default gateway: 192.168.0.1
primary dns server: 192.168.0.1
secondary dns server: blank

9. MTU - Leave set to Automatic

10. Proxy Server select Do Not Use.

11. UPnP make sure and set it to Enable.

12. Test Connection

thats for the info however then i get to step 6 my screen says WLAN Settings scan, enter manually or automatic. if i select enter manually it then goes to another screen and states SSID etc....different from the the instructions state....

It will want the SSID of your router, which is shown on the router label and in the wireless settings. It is in the form of SKY12345. Enter that and you should pass to the settings Exdee gives above.
