Re: Not Connecting
Finally received the new router this afternoon and connected it and what do you know? It connected straight away! A dark cloud has been lifted. It's slower than previously but the techie had asked me to call again to see if they could tweak the line.
Thanks for all your helpful comments.

Re: Not Connecting
Well done!
Could you post your stats please?
If there was a line fault/weather problem that caused the initial problem, then it might mean that your line just needs to be reset.

Re: Not Connecting
How do I get the stats?
Just spoke to a delightful lady at Sky Technical and she increased my speed from 3.5 MB download with the new router (it was 4.5 with the Netgear) to 5.4 which is a new record for me. The modem actually shows 6.5 but the figure I quoted was from a speed test.

Re: Not Connecting
Nice to hear that things have already been improved.
I included a link to the page on this site that describes how you can get the stats. I'll post the link below is a different form:

Re: Not Connecting
Something is wrong there.
I am assuming that either no one has looked at things for you properly or you have been with Sky for a long time or the Sky equipment is full.
You are currently on Sky BB Connect.
http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/sky-b...ect-users.html
However, your telephone exchange shows that Sky has their equipment in the area.
SamKnows - Broadband Availability - Pinner (LWPIN) Exchange
I know the area and I know that it is quiet densely populated, so it may well be that the equipment is full.
If you were on Sky BB Unlimited, your BB might cost considerably less but your download speed would not be significantly better. You also would not be subjected to BT Wholesale's traffic management policy.

Re: Not Connecting
Hi scubbie
Not sure what you mean. I've been with Sky since the start and with their BB since 2007. I'm on Unlimited. Does that make sense?&

Re: Not Connecting
I think that you were going from my details which showed Max - now changed to Unlimited.

Re: Not Connecting
Your stats appear to show that you are on Connect! Check your broadband details in your MySky page.
See if you can do a speedtest here- http://speedtester.bt.com/

Re: Not Connecting
I am definitely on Sky BB Unlimited and pay £10/mth as I have their phone call package. The lower than optimum speed has been put down to distance from the Exchange. When I try the Speedtester with just my phone number it comes back with a message that it can't complete the test. When I add the Mac code plus @skydsl, there actually is not enough space for the full string as there is only enough space for 12 digits and the mac code itself is 10 digits.
What am I doing wrong?
