packet loss/drop outs, sync speed stable
Hi
The last few days I have been having major issues with my sky bb. All was well before but lately I have serious drop outs with ssh/ftp/web browsing in general.
The only way I can describe it is every 30-60 seconds packets get dropped. SSH basically is broken and thats to a server thats dedicated and one I know is having no issues from elsewhere (test via mobile dongle)
I just called sky after trying a router shutdown for 60 seconds which made no difference but I spoke to 1st line (he tried to help but he was a bit out of his depth sadly) and he indicated there were no exchange/network wide issues and really said there was nothing they can do. I did try to explain the symptoms but he really just had nodding dog syndrome (kept saying yes without a clue as to what I was saying)
This is what I have found:
- Sync speed is stable
- stats are the same as normal
- router does not reconnect to the exchange
- ping -t {my server} has drop outs/slow response every x pings
- ping -t google.com has drop outs/slow response every x pings
- ssh tunnels drop out after 30-60 seconds
- browsing websites *stalls* in a similar fashion (google.com included)
- if a *stall* issue occurs waiting 15-30 seconds and then refreshing works
- pingtest.net has a -281% packet loss rating with 35ms jitter
I am kinda at my wits end as basically my net is useless currently as I cant do essential things for me stably. This is before we get to general web browsing stalling.
Does anyone have any ideas of what I can do?
I am going to test using a different device later today to eliminate the PC I am on but I dont think it will be the PC.
Any advice/help appreciated.Last edited by ZeroHour; 13-06-11 at 03:00 PM.

What are your stats?
Any spare routers lying around?

Nah sadly no spare kit.
The situation appears to be improving slightly but its too early to say.

You using Wi-Fi? If so, could try Ethernet
