Re: Download speed dropped from 2m/s to 300k again
Why would I or those sites talk rubbish? If I post video evidence again, will you block me again? I don't troll - that's childish. If I said this to any normal person (no offence) they wouldn't act like this they'd go 'typical companies for you'
I don't troll -- I notice ISP's going things they shouldn't be doing and I'm merely pointing it out. Nothing will change if people on the Internet (and only on the Internet) keep calling us trollers. No wonder companies are able to get away with this.

The point is you have no proof of your claims. What you think is proof is nothing. The attempt here is not proof in any way shape or form.
Not one single forum member has supported your claims and infact have requested you take your claims elsewhere.
Your choice. Drop the point or have your right to post revoked.

Re: Download speed dropped from 2m/s to 300k again
I have went from getting download speeds of 20KB/S last night to 1.4MB/S this morning. This is without using hotspot shield. When using Hotspot shield I had some improvement last night and it was steady at 600KB/S
My guess at the minute is that somewhere either through Sky, the actuall line from BT or filesonics capacity itself, there is some kind of throttle or capacity limit causing this on week nights

Have you tried using TCP/IP optimizer? i have heard its quite a good little tool for improving connection speed and stability not used it myself mind but could be worth a shot

Nobody piggy-backing onto your wireless connection, I hope? I'm sure you have it secured though.

Re: Download speed dropped from 2m/s to 300k again
I need to enter my password to get onto my ipad's wifi and on my phone, so I presume it's secure.
One thing I am thinking it could be is the line that comes into my area may have a number of heavy users on it and it may be being affected in peak times.
It also improved after rebooting last night. When I get a chance, I will try running it in safe mode with networking on.
It is however, very similar to what was happening before, though this time there is no noise on the phone and my stats are better.

I didn't think an LLU product such as Unlimited was prone to this (to any significant degree)? Now that I got my set-up fixed (i.e. microfilter correctly positioned
), I get 4.2 Mbps at 9pm even (not exactly awesome, but considerably better than the speeds you are suffering).
Did you try Scubbie's "test socket" test? This is how I got to the root of my probs
Are they favourable comparable to what you published in January below? You stats but 300k speeds look so similar to the probs I was having, but from your level of knowledge I would be surprised if you'd missed somehing as obvious as microfilter setup....or swapping microfilters?
"These are my stats with only the router plugged into the test socket -
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 4543 kbps 606 kbps
Line Attenuation 29.0db ..."Last edited by mcphailan; 15-06-11 at 02:58 PM.

BT and Sky are removed huge.... You now how many subscribrs they'll have? That's why if it was up to me I wouldn't go with the major companies - especially not now. If you signed up to them 10 years ago, fine. But if you're out there looking for an ISP I recommend you look for the lesser known companies.
