Persistant Broadband / Internet Issues
Hi guys,
Here are my internet woes...
For the past 8 months-ish I had a nice stable 11mb connection until the connection started dropping Intermittently before eventually giving up completely and only connecting Locally with no internet.
I contacted SKY and as per their scripts, I replaced my micro-filter and tried the test socket but nothing worked.
SKY reduced my speed to an amazing 66kbps to test the line. The line test took 5 days apparently, the result of which was me needing a new router.
So they send me a new router which I plug in straight away and SKY brings my speed back up to the 11mb. Rad!
It lasted for about 2 days before I had the exact same problem as I did with my first router. I contacted SKY again and they said there was a problem with the latest batch of routers (which I had heard about on this forum so I didn't get as angry as I perhaps would have).
So they send me a second new router which has all the latest firmware and I plug it in and I'm away! A steady 11mb connection...
... for about a week before the problem returns.
Rebooting this router will often get me back on the internet but at a speed never any higher than 500kbps which is lame.
I've emailed that Jeremy fella, but do any of you guys know what could possibly be causing this issue? Oddly, I plugged my first router back in after the 2nd one gave up and it worked for a few days!
I can post router stats this eve when I get home if anyone would like to see them.

Hi,
I'll post them when I get home. I just wanted to get my story out there whilst on a stable connection at work in case my internet gives up the ghost completey.

UPDATE: The internet did die so I called SKY. They did their thing at their end (something about 'jumping onto a line with errors') and got it working and they're going to call me back on Wednesday.

Okay, long story short it went down again.
I'm only just back online now as they had to replace the external phone line to my house...
Given that I've had a new line installed what do you think my chances of an increased speed are?

With that noise margin you are lucky to get what you have now.
