Do i want SKY BB?

Been considering Sky BB for a few weeks now, but not happy with the estimation that the website gives me of 0.5mb.

At the moment on with talktalk and get between 7 and 8mb,

Don't want to sign up and end up with a worse service.

Are they able to do any more intense tests to see what i will be able to obtain?

I would not touch SKY Broadband with that kind of estimated speed.

I have just had a bad experience with them but fortunately was able to argue misrepesentation - which they accepted after trying to bully me into accepting the 12 month contract

If Sky has LLU equipment in your local telephone exchange, then you should get similar speeds.

Line estimates are just that - an estimate.

The figures are often wrong. My estimate was 4Mb!

According to the exchange checker - they have these have a LLU Operator and Sky is there

With your current router, do you know how to get into the admin pages and find your line attenuation? If so, then we can give a more appropriate estimate.

Hope i have found the right thing.

It says

Local Line Attenuation: 32.5 dB
Remote Line Attenuation: 19.5 dB
Local SNR Margin: 11.0 dB
Remote SNR Margin: 22.0 dB

and

Rx ATTNDR: 7416000
Tx Cell Rate: 1056
Rx Cell Rate: 16150

With attenuation of 32.5Mb then you should get over 12Mb

Your noise margin is very healthy too.

My attenuation is 33 and I get:

Connection Speed 12287 kbps
Line Attenuation 33.0 db
Noise Margin 6.6 db

Sky line calculations are incorrect.

But of a hiccup with those atm.

If line stats correct, dont see why you wouldnt get a decent speed, far more than half a mb.
