Re: SKY is a ripoff IMHO
Having been really ripped off in the past by Virgin I am a bit bemused at the rip-off comment - I originally used Virgin dial-up (early days, around 10 years ago) - we were getting bills over £100 per month and I asked to go on one of the all-inclusive packages they were starting to offer - but was told they were a trial and I could not as I did no qualify yet?! - so, after paying this ridiculous money for a few months I went to one-tel for £13/month inclusive. (And Virgin have never asked me why or asked me back).
And virgin now use Googlemail as well. Same as Sky.
Having gone via UKOnLine to Sky (they bought them) Sky has some limitations - especially the non-ability to send e-mails from private domains - but Sky User has come to the rescue on that one. And I only get around 2 meg on my line - always have - Sky let me know before moving me from UKOnLine - and kept it there - but I get a lot less drop outs now.
So Sky for me is not the best (I could do with BT fibre coming) - but it is not a rip off either.
All I can say is pester them on speed (you seem to have done so) and as everyone says get an e-mail client to download emails onto your computer - I use Thunderbird and it is brilliant - and free.
Good luck

Re: SKY is a ripoff IMHO
From what OP put as many people have stated is that he doesnt seem to understand how Broadband works.
And the comment of suggesting constant 10mbps as broadband and nothing less is ridiculous.
Sure when everything is upgraded to FO and its all rolled out this wont be an issue as any ISP will be able to do this.
As for Sky as a company and what they do in levels of customer service, i think they try to make a good job of this.,
However it has been difficult recently due to high levels of calls and some issues.
But im confident before we know it Sky Customer's service will be better and beating any competitors level of customer satisfaction.

Re: SKY is a ripoff IMHO
Im not in a position to instantly change how sky works.
However i can feed ideas in and work with them to make things better.
As a member of staff for Sky i do everything possible for their customers, but i am limited to what i can do due to lack of resources.
The majority of staff do all they can, we are just limited.

Re: SKY is a ripoff IMHO
The only package that i personally would consider more expensive is connect, which is still only £17 a month.
And as for traffic management, no Sky Broadband products are traffic managed apart from again Connect.
As for limitations of resources and all companys being alike again i couldnt agree more, and the determination of training standards in Sky, from what i have been reading from tier 1 lately is that they need no training, not evening training on how to type basic english.
But, eventually the higher up people in sky that are only making things worse will either move on or be removed. So things should get better from there.

Re: SKY is a ripoff IMHO
You have a lot to learn
You seem to also dismiss the Sky Connect traffic management by saying it is the only one, I think you will find it is also the largest BB package that Sky offer and as such is an utter discrace both being poorly managed and severly over subscribed. I would not want it if it where free

The onnet LLU packages from Sky are NOT traffic managed.
As for having a lot to learn, from being a sky employee, i do get fed information regarding who in the company (higher up) has caused these problems for us.
