My guess it that the master socket is hidden somewhere. In my last house it was located in the cupboard under the stairs of all places.

If someone has removed the master socket, apart from it's tampering with BT property and could lead to a fine and/or your service terminated, it's also dangerous because of voltage spikes on the line getting through to the internal wiring.
