Re: Naff internet
From 6pm to 11pm tonight I also had naff all internet, it was the same last night.
Yet at 11.05, all seemed well again.
What is going on here?

Re: Naff internet
@easy: You could do with going through some basic checks initially to see where the bottleneck is.
According to your line attenuation and the tool on this site, you should be able to achieve between 5Mb-6Mb.
Could you please check that you are using the Master Socket please. It you have an NTE5 socket, it might be a good idea if you can use the test socket (see the same link for info).
Ensure that the micro-filter is the first item plugged into the telephone socket. This is especially the case for the Sky STB telephone lead, which must be plugged in to the phone socket on the Micro-filter. A micro-filter should be fitted to each and every telephone extension and should always be the first item installed.
If you use the test socket, can you ensure that every telephone extension is dead.
Once you have done all this, could you repost your stats please.
@steveyb: could I suggest that you start a new thread please. I suspect that you have a totally different problem. Post your stats in that thread and I am sure others will help.

Re: Naff internet
Hi steveyb,
Do you know your exchange code rather than you area dialling code? If so then post it up and we can check your exchange for any issues. If not then I would recommend you contact us so we can investigate this further for you.

Re: Naff internet
That is an improvement.
What do you get if you use the test socket?

Re: Naff internet
If that was from the test socket, then you have an issue with the wiring between your home and the telephone exchange.
You should be able to get more than double your current speed, as previously stated.
At this point I would normally double check that all your extensions were dead when you used the Test Socket, check that you have no noise on your line and then contact Sky to see if can arrange for a BTO engineer to check over your line.
From reading other posts by gamers though, I would have to agree with your statement that this connection is never going to be good enough for your needs. Xboxs & PS3s benefit from fast connections and you are never going to have a connection which is fast enough for 2 Xboxs to run at the same time using ADSL or ADSL2+.
Provided that you have a green street cabinet which can supply FTTC to your home, then this will be the best way forward.
BT Infinity is not the only FTTC package. Do look around.
