Re: Sky Router Static Orange Light
You would be cheaper nipping down to Tescos and picking up a cheap phone for about a fiver. I don't know what a call from a mobile to support will cost, but it will be much more than a land line.

Re: Sky Router Static Orange Light
will do, our setup is as follows: -
Where the phone line is, its right across the other side of the room.
So we have the line extended along the skirting boards to where the tv is. Which there is a large white box.
Attached to the large white box is the phone/modem splitter.
Modem connected to router
Phone to back of SkyBox.

Re: Sky Router Static Orange Light
Remove the extension. Set-up should be:
master socket > microfilter > short grey dsl cable > router
(And if you're connecting sky tv up, then connect the splitter into the phone side of the filter)

Re: Sky Router Static Orange Light
The splitter should be plugged into the filter, not the other way round. The filter should preferably be plugged direct into the wall socket for the best performance.

Re: Sky Router Static Orange Light
its an extension of the master socket as the tv is on the opposite side of the room.
What i think the skyman done was take the cable from the phone socket, take it around the room (so its still the main socket) just now near the tv.
Then into this socket is the splitter then the modem is in the router and the phone is in the back of sky?
Ill have to get sum pics or a diagram done to explain

Unless the telephone extension is a good quality twisted pair one, it will badly effect your broadband. Flat twin cable acts like an aerial, pulling in interference.

Re: Sky Router Static Orange Light
I will give that a go when i get home, so rather than plugging the phone cable into the back of sky, just leave this out completely, or plug it into a home phone??
I have attached a little diagram with my current setup.

Re: Sky Router Static Orange Light
You really want to take the filter from where it is and plug it into the main socket, then plug the extension into the phone side and router into the ADSL side.
