Random disconnections
Hi all hope someone can help plz i have been having a lot of random disconnections with my sky broadband, the broadband has been only active about 4 days and i have phoned sky twice about these problems but nothing has helped at the moment ,i have the modem plugged directly (using the supplied micro filters) in to the master test socket and the disconnections are still happening, the phone line is new wiring as the house is a new build my router stats are :-
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 5716 kbps 945 kbps
Line Attenuation 52.5 dB 33.4 dB
Noise Margin 7.1 dB 8.4 dB
I have put the xbox 360 which is wired ,into the dmz zone turned off UPnP even port forwarded the ports needed for the xbox360.
Even when i try to go wireless with my mobile phone my broadband just disconnects. thanks for readingLast edited by die5el302; 07-05-11 at 03:33 PM.

Re: Random disconnections
Your profile indicates that you have the Sagem 2504. could you confirm if you actually have the Sagem 2304n or the 2504 please?
The 2504 has a dull grey case which has a dimpled effect, like a golf ball. The 2304n is grey on top, black underneath and is smooth & shiny.
If you have the Sagem 2304n, you may benefit from disabling the WiFi settings.

Re: Random disconnections
No problem.
You have now a number of specific choices.
* do nothing and wait until Sky updates the Firmware, hoping that this resolves the problems
* make use of an old router and piggyback it to the Sky router. You can then use it's WiFi
* purchase a pair of HomePlugs. These make use of your electrical wiring to connect two points and effectively work like a long Ethernet cable
* combine the 2nd & 3rd choices to provide a more centralised WiFi spot
HomePlugs are available from £35-£150. If you take this option, try to get a pair which have a pass-through socket and support 100Mbps or 200Mbps. with the number of people using your Internet connection, you'll appreciate the faster speeds over 85Mbps IMHO.
As for linking an old WiFi router, see this thread:
